WOW!!!! Let us just start there! Out of 12 seasons of doing this "full bore", averaging 40 to 50 haunts a season, Spooky Ranch is only the 6th location to receive our extremely rare 11 out of 10 rating. The simple math of that says something, but we will do our best to do this extraordinary haunt justice in conveying our experiences there.
Where Spooky Ranch goes above and beyond is the quadruple threat of acting, prop use, proper animatronic use and timing. Some would say every haunt utilizes these four facets. To say that all haunts use them is incorrect. To say that most that use them use them anywhere near as well as Spooky Ranch is also incorrect.
Where most haunts fall short is where Spooky Ranch excels. Here is an example: You walk in a room and you are greeted by a monstrous actor. He introduces himself as your Master of Ceremonies for the evening. As he gives you his spiel, you suddenly realize he has moved closer to you and just as you notice the prop in his hand, the floor starts to drop and vibrate and he starts a deep laugh that seems to shake the whole room. We have made sure not to give the whole gag away, but we hope the brief description, especially not realizing that he changed his proximity to you as well as produced a scream rendering prop, gives you an idea of how Spooky Ranch interweves the before mentioned quadruple threat. And that doesn't even include the great set and exterior designs!
Another aspect of Spooky Ranch that we don't remember being done so well elsewhere is Spooky Ranch's ability to please so many age groups at the same time. While being a hard core haunt, Spooky Ranch is also a major draw for families. There are a couple ways Spooky Ranch accomplishes this. First, children are not allowed in the most extreme haunt: Extreme Nightmares. Next, from the Hayride to the Barn to the Fun House to Crazy Clowns 3D, Spooky Ranch has a way of presenting scares in a subtle way yet still be over the top. We rode the hayride next to a baby that I believe was around 6 months old. With chain saws and propane flames and a ton of scares, that baby didn't cry the whole time. Some haunts would point to that as failure. We point to that as talent. We had plenty of startles, great gags and a lot of awesome scenes on that ride.
The Barn and The Fun House were the same way. It was as indepth as you were able to comprehend. Younger children didn't seem to notice the more macabre aspects. As for Crazy Clowns 3D, it too walks the fine line. Yet we saw mid range age kids going through it. The 3D haunt actually had ACTORS, which is always a surprise considering how many haunts leave their 3D unmanned. If it's hard for us to explain pleasing so many age groups, think of how hard it is to accomplish. Kudos for being the rare haunt that truly caters to all generations. Having shared one of their scares, we don't want to go further. But suffice it to say you don't get an 11 out of 10 without hitting on all cylinders. Haunted Enthusiasts

“I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. The haunted houses around here have recently gotten tiresome and redundant. The kid’s (ages 16&11) loved it and wanted to go through again. “This was one of my all-time favorites. It’s still not bad, but geared more for the rookie haunted house goers… for our younger crowds. For people who want a scare without it lasting too long.
